Hello everyone,
You may have caught a glimpse of our Protoss Immortal in the video covering Wave 2 of StarCraft TMG. Unfortunately, we weren’t able to get our hands on the miniature any sooner to present it to you. That’s now been taken care of! Its colour scheme therefore follows the same approach as the rest of our army.
As for the Immortal itself, we’ll keep the rules discussion brief, as our opinion remains largely the same as the one expressed in our Wave 2 video. It’s a tough unit that can synergise very well with certain Tactical Cards. It’s not indestructible, but when used effectively, its resilience can make it a real thorn in the opponent’s side.
Taking two isn’t a bad option, although they do come at a considerable cost. Ravagers can easily be fielded in units of four, while we feel the Siege Tank is more interesting as a single model. The Immortal sits somewhere between the two, particularly thanks to its greater mobility compared to the Siege Tank.
A battle report featuring HiigyTV facing off against a member of our StarCraft group will be coming soon. It will include the new Wave 2 releases, as well as two Immortals. A great opportunity to see just how effective they can be when fielded as a pair!
Regarding the miniature itself, we’re a little divided on its design. However, since we had the opportunity to get our hands on a copy, we’re certainly not going to complain! The shields are noticeably bulkier than those on previous Protoss models, so we decided not to attach them.
The firing effects are a nice touch and can be added or left off according to your preferences, even after the miniature has been painted. We chose to keep them, although we haven’t got around to painting them yet. Their transparent appearance might look a little out of place alongside the rest of our army, where every miniature is fully painted.
Here are a few pictures of this must-have addition to any Protoss army at the moment!
As mentioned in previous articles, we probably won’t be receiving future miniatures as part of our collaboration anymore. On top of that, buying every release would be difficult for us financially.
We will still be covering Wave 3, which is currently being delivered. We’ll be reviewing the units and cards, as the latter have been made available to us. However, we’ll only be purchasing the miniatures that really catch our eye.
