Starcraft Tabletop Miniature Game Protoss Project : Adepts

Hello everyone,

Today, we’re presenting the core unit of our 1100 points list. Cheap in points, its main strength lies in its excellent mobility thanks to its ability to teleport at the end of the round, up to 12 inches from its starting position.

Placing the token requires spending energy, but this investment can quickly become decisive. When used correctly, it offers great tactical flexibility: offensive repositioning, objective control, or defensive redeployment depending on the situation.

This token is not only used for teleportation either. It also grants bonuses to nearby allied units, opening up several strategic options:

  • place it to prepare for a future teleport — or simply to threaten one;
  • strengthen a key area of your army through its aura bonuses;
  • or, ideally, combine both effects to maximize its impact.

On paper, it may seem like a fairly discreet unit, but on the battlefield it proves to be extremely versatile, capable of providing mobility, support, and board control all at once.

The unit remains fairly fragile, however, and its baseline offensive output is still quite limited. For a few extra points, we therefore add Resonating Glaives as well as Glaive Strike so that the unit can pose a credible threat in combat and maintain a minimum level of impact throughout the game.

The goal is not to turn it into a massive damage dealer, but rather to have an option that can effectively benefit from the army’s tactical cards at the right moment, improving the reliability of its attacks and maximizing its efficiency when it matters most.

As for the Guidance rule, its usefulness remains fairly situational in our current setup. The Glaive Cannon already has Anti-Evade 1, and Evade rolls are still relatively uncommon in the current state of the game. That said, this could evolve with future releases and the development of the meta, potentially making the ability more valuable over time.

Here is our finalized unit. We also own a second squad that we are considering painting in order to bring more flexibility and modularity to our lists, especially since the Zealots represent a significant investment in resources.

Having a more flexible alternative could allow us to adapt the army composition more easily depending on the format, scenario, or match-ups we expect to face.

Now we’ll have to see how this option evolves with future releases and the development of the game. New units, rules, or synergies could quickly influence the viability of this choice in our future lists.
