Hello everyone,
After a long break due to budget constraints, our Stark army is finally back in action with a brand-new unit joining its ranks.
Meanwhile, one question continues to spark discussion within the A Song of Ice and Fire community: does the game still have a real future? Official announcements have been few and far between, and many players are also wondering about the upcoming skirmish game’s Kickstarter, whose production is still pending.
These concerns were further heightened by the departure of Michael Shinall, CMON’s Director of Design & Development. Having been involved with the project since its inception, he was one of the lead designers of A Song of Ice and Fire: Tabletop Miniatures Game, alongside Eric M. Lang. In early July 2026, he announced that he was leaving the company as part of a wave of layoffs, stating that he had been removed from all current and future projects. Hopefully, CMON will soon communicate its plans for the future of the game and provide reassuring news for the community.
On the hobby side, Unlimited Colours has once again done a fantastic job by completing this unit and its champion. The paint scheme is directly inspired by the unit card artwork, faithfully capturing the visual identity of the setting while delivering an outstanding final result. It is a beautiful addition to our growing Stark army as we look forward to the next stages of our project.
Our 40 points army is progressing well, and we should therefore be able to showcase new units very soon.
Now that the project is back on track, we will be looking into the various rule updates that have been released in the meantime in order to bring you a recap article covering these changes.
