Hello everyone,
We are fortunate enough to own the complete collection of warbands from Warhammer Underworlds – Shadespire, the very first season of this competitive game that Games Workshop has expanded over the years. Our goal on the blog is to go through all the seasons chronologically, starting naturally with Shadespire.
For each article, we will showcase a gallery of painted miniatures for the featured warband. Since each Shadespire warband has a strong visual identity, this will be a great opportunity to present a variety of paint schemes, from the most traditional to the most creative.
At the same time, we’ll be running a small home tournament, strictly limited to cards from Season 1. We do own all the official cards, but only in a single copy, which can be a limitation when trying to play with two fully built decks. For those who would like to replay Shadespire or rediscover this first season, several websites provide the cards for consultation. Underworlds DB, among others, offers access to all cards from every season, making deckbuilding and preparing friendly games much easier.
In each article dedicated to a warband, we will also present the deck we’ll be using for the first match of our small league. We will intentionally avoid cards that were considered overly powerful at the time and that had been banned or restricted by Games Workshop. The goal is to keep the game fun, balanced, and faithful to the original spirit of Shadespire.
The new layout of Underworlds DB is, admittedly, less intuitive than the previous version. The filters are harder to spot, and some options seem hidden. But don’t worry, our aim is to make things easier for you so that this deep dive into the season remains enjoyable.
