Hello everyone,

Today, we’re taking a closer look at an aspect of the game that is both aesthetic and strategic: Command Models and how they are managed within different units.

This is a particularly satisfying element for any Conquest player, as it allows you to add a layer of personality and narrative to your regiments. These characters can easily be highlighted through creative conversions or elaborate scenic bases. Parabellum regularly releases alternative versions of standard characters, further enriching the visual identity of armies and offering new modeling opportunities.

Don’t forget to check out Chapter 1, Chapter 2, Chapter 3, Chapter 4, Chapter 5, and Chapter 6 if you haven’t read them yet!

Infantry:

In Infantry Regiments, you can include up to four Command Models (Leader, Standard Bearer, Officer, etc.) on a single dedicated base, known as the Command Stand.

  • This base replaces a regular stand in the unit, it does not add an additional one.
  • It must be placed at the center of the front rank.
  • It is the last stand to be removed if the unit suffers casualties.
  • If the Command Stand is destroyed, the unit loses all special abilities granted by the Command Models it contained.
  • At the end of the action in which it was destroyed, the unit may perform a free Reform to return to a legal formation.

Most Infantry Regiments come with a free Leader model included when the regiment is purchased.

Cavalry & Brutes: A Different Approach

For these units, where each stand holds a single model, each Command Model simply replaces a regular cavalry or brute model.

  • The stand containing the Leader automatically becomes the Command Stand.
  • It must also be placed at the center of the front rank and be the last to be removed as a casualty.
  • If you want to add a Command Model but have no regular model left to replace, you must first purchase an additional stand for the regiment.
  • As with Infantry, each regiment may only include one of each type of Command Model.
Monsters : No Command Here!

Monster units do not have access to Command Models, and therefore do not have a Command Stand. These colossal creatures are already difficult enough to control as it is!

Two Common Types of Command Models :

  • Leader: Adds +1 Attack to the stand. If the unit has the Barrage (X) special rule, the stand also gains +1 to its Barrage (X) value.
  • Standard Bearer: Grants the Unstoppable special rule to the unit and adds +1″ to its March distance during the second March action performed in the same activation.
Officiers : le commandement unique par faction

Each faction also has access to unique Officers, each with their own special rules. A regiment may only include one copy of each Officer, but multiple regiments can each have one of the same Officer. For example, a Spires army can field several regiments, each including a different Officer, such as a Catabolique Node for units of Force-Grown Drones.

Command Models are far more than just visual flair — they bring key abilities that can completely shift a unit’s performance. Whether it’s improving ranged output, boosting mobility, or granting special rules, their presence (or absence) should always be a tactical decision. Once again, the Conquest Companion app proves incredibly useful here, keeping all bonuses from Command Models and specific Officers right at your fingertips, making in-game management much smoother.
