Hello everyone,
The reviews from AdeptiCon 2026 have largely lived up to our expectations. If you missed them, you can find our full analyses in the articles dedicated to Age of Sigmar, Warhammer 40,000, Horus Heresy (30K), and The Lord of the Rings.
Since then, we’ve managed to get our hands on the famous promotional miniatures distributed during the event. Their purpose was to tease the upcoming Armageddon V11 box set, which is highly anticipated by the community.
So, are they really worth it? Between rarity, sculpt quality, and their value for gameplay or collecting, we’ve taken a close look at these pieces. And trust us, speaking as passionate collectors who almost had to sell a kidney to get them, we have a pretty strong opinion on the matter!
In this article, we offer a full unboxing and our thoughts on these miniatures.
So sit back, get comfortable, and let’s see together whether these exclusives truly deserve their status… or if they’re just a marketing gimmick.
The box comes in the form of a “mystery box,” revealing nothing about its contents. It’s a deliberate marketing choice, clearly playing on the excitement of discovery when opening it.
Once in our hands (and especially once opened), we find two sprues, unfortunately without any instructions. The first contains an Ork, while the second features a Space Marine that was, until recently, still referred to as a “Primaris.”
Because yes, the “great replacement” now seems well underway: the distinction between classic Space Marines and Primaris is gradually fading, in favor of a unified range. A detail that isn’t really a minor one, and which says a lot about the direction the game, and its miniature line, is taking.
These “easy-to-build” sprues can, in theory, be clipped off and assembled without any tools. An appealing promise, especially for beginners or for a quick build.
In practice, however, it’s best to be cautious. The peg-and-slot attachment system, while convenient on paper, can prove problematic. If not removed cleanly, these connectors can leave marks or even small holes in the miniature. We therefore strongly recommend using clippers or a hobby knife.
Each miniature offers two head options, which is always a nice touch for adding a bit of personality. That said, with only one model of each type in the box, the choice can feel a bit frustrating, you have to decide, with no way to use the second option.
On the assembly side, however, there’s nothing to complain about. The build is simple, quick, and intuitive. In just a few minutes, both models come together effortlessly.
Here are the two miniatures once assembled.
So, what should we make of them?
The Space Marine, first of all, clearly struggles to impress. The pose is very static, almost stiff, and sorely lacking in personality. There’s nothing here that justifies emptying your wallet, it remains a generic miniature, without any real originality. A bit more dynamism or a distinctive feature would have gone a long way.
The Ork, on the other hand, fares much better. The miniature has a slight sense of movement, with a more lively stance, and the two head options provide a welcome bit of variation. It’s always nice to add a slightly different Boy to your collection, especially with the upcoming box set in mind.
But are they really different from what’s coming in that future box? Both miniatures do stand on sculpted bases, a detail that will not be included in the upcoming Armageddon set. For now, this gives them an exclusive status tied to AdeptiCon… at least on the surface.
Because one question remains: are these miniatures truly unique? Or are they simply prototypes meant to be reused later, perhaps as in-store demo models or in “how to start” publications? The doubt remains.
In the end, it’s hard not to mention the secondary market. The prices currently being asked are clearly excessive and do not reflect the true value of these miniatures. While the Ork might stand out slightly thanks to its “unique” appeal, that still doesn’t justify the price tags we’re seeing.
Our verdict is clear: these miniatures are not worth the amounts being asked today. It’s better to be patient and wait to see whether they might be released again in another form.
