Master of Grudges 7

Hello everyone,

Today we are going to reveal one of the greatest secrets in the world of miniatures. A secret that would probably be kept hidden nowadays, for fear of shocking the youngest among us.

In this article, we present the miniature of Garagrim Ironfist, the undisputed leader of the Slayer army list during the Storm of Chaos campaign in 2004. Following those events, the miniature was unfortunately never reissued, making it today a particularly sought-after piece among collectors.

Like any seasoned collector, Aubec naturally owns one or two copies in his collection, and we had the pleasure of painting one of them. The miniature is full of charm: true to the Slayer aesthetic, it is richly detailed and literally covered in piercings, reinforcing its brutal and iconic character.

And the secret, you may ask?
Well, all it takes is turning the miniature over, adding a light highlight, and then… surprise: the fellow is rather well-endowed.

A detail that is both amusing and unexpected, which the sculptor of the time clearly had fun including. A small act of audacity typical of another era, and one that, let’s be honest, would probably no longer make it into production nowadays.

An irreverent wink that adds even more to the charm and legend of this now cult miniature.

This brings, for the moment, the Masters of Grudges article series to a close. Only time will tell whether the collaboration with Aubec will continue, but for now we no longer have any miniatures in our possession.

We do, however, remain hopeful: if Aubec is aiming for true cohesion within his army, we have already painted a good hundred Slayers, and it would be a shame if his Goblin Hewer were not painted by the same hand 🙂.

The future will tell whether this saga will see a new chapter.
