Hello everyone,
We continue our presentation of the teams and decks from Season 1 of Warhammer Underworlds : Shadespire with the second Stormcast Eternals warband released during this season.
Straight from the Vanguard Chamber, this warband stands out for its strong focus on ranged combat, in contrast to the Steelheart’s Champions, who represent a much more melee-oriented version of the faction.
Once again, the painting of this warband was done by Giuseppe Chiafele from Axia Painting. This time, he chose to stick to a more classic palette, faithful to the traditional Stormcast iconography. This approach clearly differentiates them from the first warband, making it easier to recognize and distinguish the two teams during a match.
Let’s move on to the deck. It has been designed around two main axes, or even three: movement, lethality, and defensive bonuses. The result is a versatile warband, unlike some others with a more limited range of action. Their main weakness remains their small size, limited to just three miniatures. However, these are Stormcast Eternals, and in addition to the versatility already seen in the other warband, they also possess a ranged attack capability, enhancing their control of the board.
The goal, therefore, is to play around the battlefield’s configuration: stretching it out, tightening it at the right moment, and filling gaps to control enemy lines of sight and movement. On your side, avoid being stuck in your half of the board; instead, aim to take the initiative from the first turns. These aggressive opening moves make the Farstriders harder to eliminate and allow them to improve their weapons quickly, making this a key gameplay priority. Your deck should be built accordingly, with any card that allows you to score glory in enemy territory receiving special consideration.
We therefore chose our objectives by combining board control (including enemy territory) with lethality.
The ploys cards were carefully chosen to match our objectives.
The upgrades were also chosen to enhance our fighters according to the three main pillars mentioned earlier.
In conclusion, this ranged-focused warband brings a refreshing twist to Shadespire! Their resilience and impressive range make them both formidable and easy to handle, especially against low-endurance warbands. We can’t wait to deploy them on the battlefield or see them in action during our seasonal campaign!
