Reviews : Tomb Kings Liche Priest

Hello everyone,

The plastic Liche Priest release generated a lot of excitement for us, as did most of the recent releases for The Old World. However, we were a bit frustrated by the lack of detailed information about these miniatures. Since Games Workshop didn’t provide a full sprue preview, it was difficult to know exactly what the kit contained.

When we received it, we were pleasantly surprised to discover that the kit includes four different heads. However, we also noticed a rather surprising mistake on GW’s part, two of these heads require an additional neck piece… but the kit only provides one. In practical terms, this means that when assembling the model, it’s only possible to use one of these two heads, which is a shame, especially since those were the ones we liked best. It’s a small frustration, all the more so because the missing piece is tiny; it would have been entirely possible to include it somewhere on the sprue without any technical issue.

So here is an image of the kit’s sprue.

The assembly itself is well thought out. However, parts 33 and 35 were swapped in the instructions. That said, there’s normally no risk of making a mistake during assembly.
Below you’ll find the kit’s complete instructions for the assembled version.

And for the foot version.

The kit is therefore a refresh of a version originally produced in metal and later re-released in Finecast, which clearly needed an update. The ability to choose between several heads, multiple right arms, as well as to swap the banners, brings real variety to the kit. This is a particularly interesting detail if you want to fill your army with Liche Priests.

We hope this article helps you with your choices, and we’ll see you again very soon. These two miniatures will later be shown painted as part of our Tomb Kings project.
