Hello everyone,
It’s high time we grabbed a beer and stroked our beards again! Here comes a new wave of Slayers for our collaboration with Aubec. The army is really starting to grow in strength, as a new regiment of 20 Slayers joins the ranks.
Even though some details, like pendants, were added later on, there’s a certain redundancy in the poses. Yet it’s impressive to notice how many micro-variations exist between models that seem identical at first glance. Look a little closer and you’ll spot a different axe, a pouch, or a trinket added here and there… That’s when you realize just how meticulous (or downright mad!) a collector can be, these purchases are clearly deliberate, because even when they share the same basic sculpt, these miniatures are never quite the same.
Like any hobbyist in the middle of an army project, there’s a great sense of satisfaction in seeing a full unit take shape. Knowing that around 60 miniatures have already been painted is genuinely motivating for what’s to come. So, here’s the gallery for this third unit.
But that’s not all! An army made up solely of Slayer regiments lacks a bit of mobility and striking power. So, we’ve painted a few Doomseekers to accompany all these bearded warriors on their bloody strolls.
These miniatures fit perfectly with the overall aesthetic of the army. The only downside is the chains, they’re particularly fragile. We had to carry out several repairs, and our copies clearly show the marks of time. But despite these little setbacks, adding these madmen brings a great sense of energy and dynamism to the whole force!
And to wrap things up, here’s a little guy who’s been through thick and thin: a metal Gotrek. Even though we’re a bit disappointed not to have a Felix to paint alongside him, this model brings back a lot of memories. And… he’s not the only one! A second Gotrek is already in the works. He’ll make an excellent dragon slayer, or a unit hero ready to sow chaos in the enemy lines.
That’s it for this session of the Book of Grudges! We still have another unit of 20 Slayers in reserve, along with a few characters. This first batch of painting started a bit on a whim, but now that the arcane journal The War of Settra’s Fury has been released, Aubec will be taking back the strategic reins and steering our collaboration in more detail.
Rumor even has it that a Goblin-hewer might make an appearance, with Malakai Makaisson himself, no less… So we’ll see you very soon for another article full of dwarfs, axes, beer… and grudges!
