Hello everyone,
Alongside the Starcraft project, which is taking up quite a bit of our time at the moment, we are also working on a Conquest warband for the new version of the game First Blood.
Since we had not originally planned to play this version of the game, our Yoroni army had been based on square bases, which limited its use to The Last Argument of Kings.
As we did not want to duplicate our painting efforts, we decided to start a new army that we had been hesitating to build for some time. However, the motivation to paint a full 2000 points army was not really there. This was therefore the perfect opportunity to enjoy painting a few miniatures without committing to an entire army project.
Our choice fell on the Weaver Courts, a faction that had always attracted us but felt a bit daunting on a large scale. We therefore assembled the new force available for First Blood, with the goal of preparing a future battle report that should be released in the near future.
This is a new challenge for us, as the timing is once again quite tight if we want to be ready in time. The upside is that projects with tight deadlines tend to push us to progress on our Conquest armies faster than expected, let’s be honest about that!
We will therefore be offering a series of articles to share our impressions of the new version of First Blood. However, we will not be comparing it with the previous version of the game, since we simply never played it.
At the same time, another series of articles will show the process behind our painting. We chose a relatively quick color scheme to execute, based on an autumn theme. Given the short timeframe, you will notice that the painting is at a tabletop+ level: the goal is to achieve a solid and coherent look across the whole army without aiming for competition-level painting.
That said, we will still maintain the minimum quality standard we try to uphold on the blog: there will be washes, highlights, and a few details. The time spent on each miniature will simply be a bit more limited.
