Hello everyone,
Today, we’re putting the spotlight on one of the three Daemon Princes in our army!
For this first showcase, we’re featuring the Forge World model of Mamon, the Daemon of Pestilence.
As big fans of the Siege of Vraks, we acquired this miniature to enrich our collection. On the tabletop, it will represent a Daemon Prince armed with an infernal cannon. We invite you to take a closer look at all the oozing, festering details of this impressive model. Right after the photo, you’ll also find a short background on Mamon, so that this legendary daemon won’t be forgotten. Enjoy the read, and don’t hesitate to share your thoughts in the comments!
Mamon was the principal instigator of the uprisings against the Imperium on Vraks Prime, events that would ultimately lead to the infamous Siege of Vraks. Once an Imperial Deacon, he fell to corruption and won the favor of Cardinal-Apostate Xaphan and his inner circle. It was Mamon himself who first planted the seeds of heresy within the Vraksian clergy, twisting the misguided zeal of a naïve cardinal against the very Imperium he was meant to serve.
It was also Mamon who arranged for the arrival of the Alpha Legion warband, led by Arkos the Faithless. Many believe this proves that Mamon was already a sleeper agent of the Alpha Legion, and that Vraks had been a joint target of Mamon and Arkos from the very beginning.
But the war eventually turned against their plans. Lord Zhufor, leader of the fearsome Skulltakers of Khorne, launched a brutal coup against the Cardinal-Apostate, seeking to bring the Chaos forces under the indirect control of his own master, Abaddon the Despoiler. Hunted by Zhufor’s personal guard, Mamon narrowly escaped death.
Seeking refuge among The Tainted, a warband devoted to Nurgle, Mamon offered himself, body and soul, to the Plague God. In reward for his service on Vraks, Nurgle granted him a “gift”, daemonhood. Thus the corrupted deacon was elevated to the rank of Daemon Prince of Nurgle, possessed by the essence of a Great Unclean One of terrifying power.
Transformed into a bloated, festering abomination, Mamon was unleashed upon Vraks to turn the Imperial armoury-world into a Plague Planet dedicated to Nurgle’s glory. In his new hideous form, he fought alongside the Tainted until the very end of the campaign. When Vraks finally fell to the Imperial reconquest, Mamon and his allies managed to escape into the warp. Since then, no one knows the fate of Mamon the Arch-Corrupter or The Tainted, their trail lost forever in the shadowed tides of the Immaterium…
