Hello everyone,
While we’re preparing our battle report pitting the Apostles of Contagion against the Imperial Harbingers, we continue to showcase our miniatures. After building a list for Boarding Actions, we decided to base it on the first patrol published in the V10 Indexes. This format is primarily an excuse to make progress on our army. With V11 approaching, this patrol will probably become obsolete. But the main thing is elsewhere, we will have painted miniatures ready to be fielded on the table, regardless of the next version!
The starting version patrol counted 39 miniatures. However, we decided to “cheat” a little for the sake of consistency in our project by adding some Plague Marines to form a full squad of 10. This will give us more flexibility in our future list builds, and let’s be honest, who could blame us for adding a few more painted miniatures in the article?
Combat Patrol Composition:
- Typhus
- 1 Biologus Putrifier
- 7 Plague Marines +3 bonus
- 30 Poxwalkers
We’re starting with Typhus!
Even though we’ve always had a soft spot for his previous metal version, we went ahead and got the new miniature. We chose to remove the swarms of insects emerging from his vents to avoid visual overload and keep a cleaner silhouette. We didn’t change the position of the arm holding the scythe, not because we didn’t want to, but simply due to lack of time! What we especially appreciate is that the little companion Nurgling is still present in this version. A detail true to Nurgle’s spirit, which we’re happy to see again. So here is our version of Typhus, painted by Sigur.
Next up is the Plague Marines squad.
This unit isn’t extraordinary in itself, but it holds a special place in our collection. We aimed to gather all the existing models, which allowed us to fully enjoy the many options offered by the kit, much more generous in bits and assembly possibilities than many recent kits. Assembling these miniatures was a real hobby pleasure, and Sigur even created a painting tutorial for those who want to replicate the same color scheme.
The Biologus Putrifier is one of the many unique characters available to the Death Guard. It’s quite a fun miniature, with its grotesque fly-like appearance and distinctive details. Sigur really gave it character, especially thanks to the brightly colored potion-filled appendage, a little visual wink that works perfectly.
And to close out this patrol, the 30 Poxwalkers! I think Sigur has never hated me so much… And this is just the beginning, for an upcoming scenario, we’re planning to field even more. Needless to say, he must have been dreaming about them at night, or having nightmares by now. But the result was definitely worth it. Each miniature is unique, with real painting work despite the quantity. Detail, character, and a strong overall coherence. Mission accomplished!
Our army is starting to grow, and we hope it will inspire you in your painting projects. Let’s be honest, a fully painted army is definitely much more enjoyable to play! We’ll see you very soon with more delightfully putrid updates!
